Buy your meal ticket at the resort office before 2 pm on Friday. That’s the one logistical move first-timers almost always miss, and it’s worth planning your arrival time around if the dinner is important to you.
The Jefferson Event Center fills up around 5:30 pm. Food and drinks come out first. The menu rotates: ham and cheese sliders one Friday, baked chicken alfredo the next, and the format stays consistent: people settle in, the room fills, and nobody has to do anything except show up.
The crowd is a mix of guests who arrived early, people who pulled in the same hour you did, and a handful of long-term residents who’ve been coming back for seasons. It has the unforced feeling of a block party, where most people already know each other a little and are genuinely happy to meet you.
Bingo starts around 6:30 pm. Four or five fast games. Full payout to the winners. By the time it wraps, you’ve already met half your neighbors without really trying. It’s the kind of thing guests describe years later, explaining why they keep coming back.

Saturday: The day that fills itself
Saturday is where the resort shows you what it’s actually built for. The morning gives you choices, the afternoon gives you options, and the evening gives you the thing people talk about on the drive home.

Saturday mornings have programming, but nothing mandatory. When there’s a session at the Polk Craft Room (inside the Washington Complex building, right next to the Fillmore Ice Cream and Pizza Parlor), it might be a seasonal kids’ project one weekend and an adult class the next.
One recent session had guests making homemade mosquito repellent. Hay rides run regularly for families with younger kids. Or you skip all of it, get to the pool while it’s still quiet, and that counts as a perfectly good morning.
Afternoon: The pool, the spa, and wine country
From roughly May through October, Saturday afternoon lands at the outdoor pool. One side has the whale station, a chest-deep lounge for adults. The other has a bubbler pad for younger kids. The 16-foot spa runs at around 102 degrees Fahrenheit with 12 jets.
If you want to get off-property for a couple of hours, DuCard Winery is worth knowing. It’s an on-site event partner for Madison Vines and has hosted winery dinners directly on the resort grounds. Early Mountain Vineyards, voted by USA Today as the country’s best tasting room, is a short drive the other direction. Check the events calendar for any DuCard events during your stay. Either gets you back for dinner.
What the kids are doing
Older kids have the outdoor lighted teen tent, with pool tables, ping pong, foosball, cornhole, and air hockey. It sits away from the main family programming so a teenager can actually use it without feeling like they’ve been dropped at a toddler event.
On summer Saturdays, the Super Soaker Wagon Ride goes out in the afternoon. Kids board a hay wagon loaded with mega water squirters, and guests along the property roads fire back with garden hoses. Nobody stays dry. It’s what people bring up first when they get home.
The Photo Scavenger Hunt sends kids across the property to find hidden Madison Vines Treasures. Any child under 18 who finishes earns a free ice cream cone at the Fillmore Ice Cream and Pizza Parlor.
Evening: The dinner that becomes the story
The Jefferson Event Center’s Saturday themed dinner is the social anchor of the weekend. Menus rotate: smoked ribs and potato salad one Saturday, creamy Tuscan chicken with buttered pasta another, home-style meatloaf a third. That part changes every week.
What doesn’t change is the room. By Saturday evening you’ve shared 24 hours on the same property as the people around you, and the dinner is where that accumulates. Guests who barely said hello at Friday Bingo end up at the same table for an hour. It shows up more often in guest reviews as the trip’s highlight than any other single moment. Once you’re sitting in the middle of it, that stops being surprising.

Sunday runs at a different pace. The fishing pond is quietest in the morning. The pool is open. The paved paths through the property are a good slow walk before checkout. Most guests leave already deciding when they’re coming back

Do I need an RV to stay?
No. Cottage guests access the same events, the same pool, and the same weekly calendar as RV guests. Madison Vines has three cottage series (Pond, Ridgeview, and Cul-de-Sac), ranging from studios to two-bedroom units, each fully furnished with a kitchen and bathroom. You’re on the same property and on the same weekend.
When do I buy meal tickets for dinner?
At the resort office, typically before 2 pm on the day of the event. For Friday evening events, that means 2 pm on Friday; for Saturday dinner, check with the office when you arrive. Don’t assume the window is still open if you wait until the evening. It usually isn’t.
Does the event schedule change week to week?
Yes. The Saturday dinner is a consistent feature of the resort, but the specific menu, the Saturday afternoon activities, and whether the Sunday Pancake Breakfast is running all vary by weekend. Check the events calendar before you finalize plans, and don’t assume an event you’ve read about will repeat on your exact dates.
What if it rains?
The Washington Complex (a barn-style building next to the pool area) houses the Fillmore Ice Cream and Pizza Parlor, the Polk Craft Room, and the Taylor Billiard Room, which has billiard tables and a 22-foot indoor shuffleboard. A rainy Saturday has an indoor answer. Guests who’ve hit a wet weekend here tend to report it went better than expected.
